Do you offer off leash dog training?+
Yes. Off leash training starts with long-line foundations and recall proofing. Freedom is earned step by step.
Do you offer Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing?+
Yes. Emily is an AKC Approved Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. She can test your dog for the CGC title and the advanced levels, AKC Community Canine (CGCA) and AKC Urban CGC (CGCU), and evaluate AKC Trick Dog titles. Get in touch to ask about preparing for a test and scheduling.

Puppy Training FAQs
What age can puppy training start?+
As soon as your puppy comes home. Early routines make a big difference.
What does Puppy Training include?+
Potty training support, crate training, socialization guidance, handling skills, and foundation obedience.
Can you help with puppy biting and jumping?+
Yes. We’ll teach appropriate outlets, calm routines, and clear skills that reduce mouthy, jumpy behavior.
Do you offer AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy?+
Yes. As an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator, Emily can offer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program. Ask about it when you get in touch about puppy training.
In-Home and Private Dog Training FAQs
Do you offer in-home dog training on Cape Cod?+
Yes. In-home sessions are available in many towns based on schedule and travel range.
Where do private dog training sessions take place?+
In-home sessions happen in your home and can include your yard or neighborhood routes when appropriate.
What should I have ready for a session?+
A leash, a harness or flat collar, and small treats. If we are working on recall, we may recommend a long line.
Reactive Dog Training FAQs
Do you work with reactive dogs?+
Yes. We help dogs who bark, lunge, freeze, or get overwhelmed by triggers on walks or in public.
Will my dog have to meet other dogs during reactive training?+
Not unless it is appropriate. We focus on safety, distance, and calm neutrality first.
Do you offer separation anxiety training?+
We support alone-time skills and routines. Depending on severity, we may recommend a specialized plan and additional resources.
Equipment and Methods FAQs
What training methods do you use?+
Canine Afloat starts with positive reinforcement and clear structure, then adjusts the plan to the dog in front of us. Every dog is different, so we choose the approach that helps your dog learn clearly and safely.
Do you use clicker training?+
Yes. Clicker training is an option and can be a great way to improve timing and clarity, especially for foundation skills.
Do you use e-collars?+
E-collars are not a one-size-fits-all tool, and foundations always come first. If an e-collar is appropriate for a dog and the goal, it is layered in only after those skills are solid, with proper conditioning and without rushing the process. We will talk through options and safety with you first.
